It depends on what gets replaced. A door-only swap into a sound existing frame costs considerably less than a new door, frame, hardware and closer.

Not every problem needs a new door. Poor closing, worn hinges, closer trouble and damaged hardware are often component-level repairs.

Replace when the door is significantly damaged, corroded or deformed, when its condition keeps causing problems, or when the opening needs a real upgrade in security, accessibility or performance.

Every remove-and-replace scope includes removing what is being replaced, installing the new components, adjusting for proper operation, and taking the old materials away. What varies is whether we replace the door only, the door and hardware, or the door, hardware and frame.

Work outside the opening is excluded unless it is quoted: drywall, plaster, tile, flooring, wall coverings, baseboards, millwork, painting, staining, electrical work, access-control programming and structural repairs.

The building address, the number of doors, approximate opening dimensions, interior or exterior, photos from both sides, the existing frame and the hardware in place.

Tell us why the door is being replaced too. A security concern, a damaged frame, a recurring latch problem and a cosmetic replacement lead to very different recommendations.

For many straightforward replacements, yes. Send the whole opening from both sides, plus close-ups of the hinges, the lock or exit device, the closer, the frame, the threshold and any labels.

If you have drawings, send those instead: a door schedule, a hardware schedule and the specifications let us review every opening at once, and that is faster than entering them one at a time.

Measure the door leaf itself, width, height and thickness. The frame opening is not the door size, and that is the single most common mistake.

Depending on the scope we may also need the frame dimensions, the wall thickness, the hinge locations and the hardware preparations. What you send is enough to configure and budget; critical dimensions get verified before anything is ordered.

Many straightforward replacements install in a few hours or a working day, and the opening is only out of service while the old door comes off and the new one is set and adjusted.

The longer part of the schedule is measurement, procurement and fabrication. In an occupied building the work can usually be sequenced so another entrance stays open. Tell us if the opening is the only way into a tenant or a secure area.
